First, the instrumentation of Noble Savage 1 was succeeded by this piece, and drum set, jazz bass, and alto saxophone were added to it. Ultimately, this instrumentation tries to contrast the string quintet with Jazz quartet. In a way, the piano is the bridge between the two contrasting groups. In terms of contents, the second version has sentimental and dreamy characteristics unlike the active and dynamic atmosphere of the first. The first one was all written with notation, but the second one has many improvisational spots in it. In fact, this improvisational tendency was derived from the earlier work called "Pad de Deux for 2 pianos". This tendency is a technique to connect the notated music with improvised one through central chords and tones.
